Where Influencers Deliver their Message

Our campus remains a destination for thought leaders and newsmakers, bringing the challenges of the day here for discussion. Some highlights: U.S. Senator Tim Kaine met with Mason students on our Fairfax Campus who were affected by the White House travel ban. U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos spoke at Arlington’s Founders Hall about potential changes the Trump administration proposed for the enforcement of sexual assault on college campuses. At the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation, primatologist Jane Goodall recounted her lifelong efforts advocating for animals and the environment. Civil rights activist Jesse Jackson urged students to register to vote. And former Treasury Secretary Lawrence H. Summers spoke with the Mercatus Center’s Tyler Cowen about the growing need for innovation in higher education.
