When Teaching Literacy, it’s Game On
You don’t have to attend Mason to benefit from Mason educators. Shipley Owens, a computer game design student who graduated in May, used vintage video games to help struggling readers at Stonewall Middle School in Manassas, Virginia. Owens had children craft their own video game narratives, requiring them to develop a thorough understanding of character conflicts, storylines, and first- and third-person perspectives.
