Mason Pulitzer Prize Finalist Rewrites History.

This year, Mason professor Larrie Ferreiro was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in History. His book, Brothers at Arms: American Independence and the Men of France and Spain Who Saved It, takes a look at how the United States secured its independence from Great Britain. While that is well-tread territory, Ferreiro’s book explores the action from an international point of view. Ferreiro has his own unique perspective: he teaches in both the Volgenau School of Engineering and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Mason. His interests in the two fields helped him write the book. “Being an engineer allows you to pull together many strands of history from those different countries. There are a lot of threads to be pulled together to create a coherent narrative,” he says.
